2023 Mayer Pinot Noir Yarra Valley – Timo Mayer is a small farm producing hand crafted, single vineyard wines. They believe that wines are made in the vineyard and therefore try to interfere as little as possible in the natural winemaking process. All of their wines are unfined and unfiltered to show the true expression of the land. Their aim is to make wines with a point of difference and to really showcase region and varietal to their best ability.
2023 was a cool vintage in the Yarra Valley with a very long growing season, allowing the grapes to develop to full maturity while retaining natural acidity. Crop levels are down, but the quality of the fruit was extraordinary. The wines are medium-bodied with slightly lower alcohol but have a powerful fruit intensity. Timo’s new wines look as terrific as ever with wonderful perfumed fruit throughout the range and superfine tannins.
Elegant and sophisticated. Loads of red berries, cranberries, gentle spice and a touch of herbs. Freshness and crispness play a big part with great natural acidity and fine tannins. Length is long and pure. Super wine!
