2018 Farmer’s Leap Random Shot Cabernet Sauvignon Padthaway – The Longbottom family have been farming in Padthaway, South Australia since 1938. Onions, sheep and cattle have long been their main stay. In 1993 the first vines were planted. Now over 400* ha are dedicated to wine grape production with 6 varieties being produced.
Blackcurrant and blueberry, earthy spice and sweet tobacco all combine in a varietally expressive and fruit driven Cabernet. The palate shows plenty of dark berry fruit along with background cedary spice from the oak and hints of cocoa. It has a lovely depth of flavour, is soft and round with a fine long tannin structure.
A Random Shot wine is always best shared with friends, capturing a moment no one could plan. This is a wine to share over an unexpected catch up, an impromptu dinner or a night of endless laughs.
