2021 Michael Hall Sang de Pigeon Blanc Barossa – The Stonegarden vineyard in Springton was established in the 1860’s by Oscar Benno Seppelt. 70 years previous, during the Hamilton family’s tenure, a block was co-planted under French winemaker Maurice Ou to an eclectic mix of aromatic whites including Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains red and white, Crouchen, Riesling and Verdelho, peppered with some old vine Grenache and Mataro from the 1860’s and a number of unidentified white varieties, a genuine field blend!
This release sees a field blend of Muscat à Petits Grains, Crouchen and Verdelho from the maverick Stonegarden vineyard in Eden Valley, together with Roussanne from the Barossa Valley.
Straw yellow colour, lemon bonbon, rose and saddle leather on the nose; tart lychee, watermelon and oriental spice on the palate.
If you’re chasing something different this is one of those wines that will get your taste buds dancing!
