2021 Brave Souls The Able Seaman GSM Barossa Valley – Brave Souls is the creation of young winemaker Julia Weirich, in collaboration with Simon Cowham and Corey Ryan of Sons of Eden. The name is inspired by the story of the famous Admella shipwreck of 1859 and spotlights the remarkable accounts of those characters who risked their lives to help the survivors. Iconic Australian artist Bruce Goold generously agreed to visualise the tales of these Brave Souls for the project’s labels.
This blend aims for vibrant cherry aromatic flavours of the Grenache, with the Shiraz providing mid palate richness and flesh. Mourvedre extends the length of the palate, offering supporting tannins and a contrasting savoury finish. Crimson in colour, the wine displays youthful vibrant hues. The nose showcases lifted cherry and brooding dark chocholate notes, that are intertwined with subtle dried herb nuances. A layered palate of vibrant dark cherry and fleshy black berry fruits dominate. Soft and silky tannins endure the length of the well-balanced palate, that finishes with subtle savoury and spicy undertones.
