2021 Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir Macedon Ranges

From: $110.00

2021 Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir Macedon Ranges – ‘Bindi’, 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, is the family property of the Dhillon family. Originally purchased in the 1950s as part of the larger grazing farm ‘Bundaleer’, ‘Bindi’ is a 170 hectare farm of which 7 hectares are planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Fifteen hectares are dedicated to managed plantation eucalypts for high grade furniture timber whilst the remainder of the land is maintained as remnant bush land and important indigenous grasslands.

The Bindi vineyard is the fundamental focus of their endeavors. Their vineyard and winemaking philosophy is to seek balance and purity in the expression of their various individual vineyard sites and this philosophy is applied to farming and conservation at ‘Bindi’; the preservation of the natural harmony.

The 2021 is one of the very best wines from this vineyard. It is simultaneously deep and ethereal. There are mostly red fruits with a hint of darker berries. It is earthy, fresh and very finely layered. It is powerful for an Original Vineyard. The palate is fine, supple and full then tightens, fills the palate for a structured, fine and firm tannin finish. It should begin to drink near its best in another six years time and will drink well for 15 years after that. These wines have proved over three decades their ability to age and the 2021 has a long future ahead.
