2020 Rouleur Ronda-G Nero D’Avola Grenache McLaren Vale – The Rouleur philosophy is pretty simple. They source exceptional parcels of fruit from quality vineyards and growers to make wine that they, and hopefully you, like to drink. They tend to pick on the earlier side, seeking bright acid, freshness and lift without sacrificing flavour. Their aim is to capture terroir by not messing with the natural order too much, keeping winemaker inputs and additions to a minimum. Rouleur wines are handmade in small batches to deliver their take on the varieties and vineyards they work with. A delicious and personal perspective on each vintage year.
You may ask why this wine is known as Ronda? The answer is simply because their barrels were chalk-marked RO (Rouleur), NDA (Nero D’Avola). This year they have also added some Grenache into the mix.
Layers of red fruits, cherry cola and umami-like spice. This vintage has a touch more weight and juiciness than prior years. The palate is typically intense, with lovely ripe cranberry fruit, sour cherry tang, elegant tannin and saline minerals to finish.
