2017 Eperosa Magnolia 1896 Shiraz Barossa Valley

From: $90.00

2017 Eperosa Magnolia 1896 Shiraz Barossa Valley – The Magnolia 1896 Shiraz is sourced from the oldest vines on their Magnolia Road vineyard planted in 1896. The vines grow on deep granitic sand over clay soils at an elevation of 315 metres. The block is farmed organically with the use of compost and manures for soil conditioning and the weeds controlled by sheep, mowing and mechanical knifing. The vines are hand rod and spur pruned as well as shoot and bunch thinned to control yield and quality. All the fruit is handpicked and hand sorted prior to open fermentation for three weeks. After 20 months the wine was gently hand racked from barrel with no fining or filtration. The combination of organic farming and 122 year old vines has resulted in a wine of brilliant fruit purity, depth and complexity.

Deep dark fruits, a cupboard worth of spices and garrigue. This wine epitomises what we love about the Magnolia vineyard. It brings life, energy and balance along with silky tannins to a wine that is quintessential Barossa Valley Shiraz. It’s earthen core and powerful black fruits somewhat reminiscent of a wine from St Joseph in the Northern Rhone. The wine flows with fruit and structure in a seamless line from start through to the enduring graphite-fine tannin finish. Epic!
