2020 Joel Gott Limited Release Barrel-Aged Chardonnay California – Fruit from vineyards located in the cool, marine-influenced Los Carneros AVA and other coastal vineyards within Sonoma County experience little rainfall throughout the growing season allowing for the fruit to have a longer hangtime giving the wine its structure and crisp acidity. Within Santa Barbara County, vineyards located slightly more inland from the coast in the Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills AVAs experience cool, foggy mornings with warmer afternoons adding concentration and minerality to the wine. Sourcing from these varied regions helps to create an elegant, fruit forward and balanced wine.
After harvest, the fruit was fermented in 25% of new French oak for 10 months to add complexity and texture.
Aromas of ripe pear and apple blossom with notes of honey. On the palate, the wine opens with bright fruit flavors, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and crisp minerality on the finish.
