2022 Gilbert Sauvignon Blanc Orange – As artisans of cool climate wine their ethos is simple, wise winemaking with fresh appeal. Winemakers Simon and Will Gilbert. A family of six generations long.
The Gilbert label was established in 2010, and is their first premium boutique family collection. The wines in this collection are predominantly made from grapes grown in Orange, New South Wales. Orange is amongst the highest cool climate regions in Australia. Characterised by long slow ripening, resulting in wines with elegance, purity and structure.
The overall emphasis for this Sauv Blanc is to maintain balance between the characteristics of the fruit and the oak, in order to best express the elegance, complexity and finesse of this varietal whilst highlighting the terrior of the site and season within which it was grown.
Notes of stonefruits and tropical fruits, white nectarine and guava playing a big roll, textured, complex, crisp, perfect balance of fruit and oak. Very solid drink.
