Seppeltsfield Para 21 Year Old Tawny Barossa Valley

From: $85.00

Seppeltsfield Para 21 Year Old Tawny Barossa Valley – With a proud and priceless legacy dating back to 1851, Seppeltsfield is Australia’s most iconic wine estate. Seppeltsfield was established in the Barossa Valley by Joseph and Johanna Seppelt just 15 years after the European settlement of South Australia. One of the largest and most modern wineries in the world of its time, Seppeltsfield went on to thrive as an artisan community throughout the early 1900’s. Steeped in rich Barossan heritage, the estate is considered a true national treasure which helped shape the history of the Australian wine industry.

Tawny styles refer to fortified wines that have been blended using red grape varietals, which in the Barossa, typically include Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre. Often, Tawny styles are carefully blended from a range of vintage years to achieve a consistent style and minimum age. The 21 year old Para Tawny however stands alone as a single vintage wine, whereby the most select parcels of the vintage are drawn from barrel and bottled as a special celebratory release. Its style therefore has the added complexity of being a reflection of the growing conditions during a singular season.

The 21 year old Para Tawny is proudly a single vintage fortified wine, whereby parcels have been matured in old oak hogsheads. Brandy spirit has been used as the fortification element, which along with extensive oxidative aging, gives rise to roasted nut, praline and butterscotch aromas and flavours.

Aromatic blend of almond nougat and vanilla wafer biscuits. An elegant style that treads lightly on the palate, crema catalana and almond biscotti with stylish balanced brandy spirit.
