2022 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages France – Beaujolais-Villages takes its name from a certain number of wine-making villages in the Beaujolais production area – 38 to be precise – that have long stood out for the superior quality of their wines. By “superior” is meant greater aromatic complexity, greater concentration and greater reliability. The word “Villages” has been adopted in 1950 to replace the name of the villages that were mentioned on the label to distinguish the productions considered as superior quality.
This delicious red wine marks a sort of transition between “plain” Beaujolais with a spontaneous character and the ten prestigious “crus” further north. You can find slight differences from one wine to another, but Beaujolais Villages always combines finesse, aromas and body.
An intense, brilliant cherry color with purplish tints. Complex nose with red and black berry aromas (raspberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants). A smooth wine with fine tannins, harmonious and complete. Ideal for all occasions, from aperitif to cheese. It is supposed to be drunk young but may be laid down for 1 to 4 years.
