2021 Leconfield Cabernets Coonawarra – The Leconfield vineyard was founded in 1974 by pioneering oenologist Sydney Hamilton who at 76 years of age had the dream to produce classic Australian red wine. Time has validated his choice of Coonawarra as a fantastic place to do just that. Today the estate is planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller patches of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Shiraz and complemented with the white varieties of Riesling and Chardonnay.
Co-fermented all the way from the vineyard to the bottle, Cabernets is a co-ferment blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
Fragrant and perfumed showing hints of mocha coffee to augment the perfumed nose overlayed with subtle fine oak. Full flavoured yet elegantly structured with fine chamois tannins, the palate of this wine has flavours of cherry plums with hints of spice.
This wine is very approachable at release, however has the structure to age beautifully over the next 5-8 years.
