2022 Head Wines Riesling Eden Valley – Alex Head’s wines are powerfully individual, intriguing, hard to categorise, these are drawn from signature vineyards and show Alex Head at his most uncompromising; hands-on, bold and risk-taking. Most of all though, they are pure expressions of their Barossa and Eden Valley home.
The ‘Stonegarden’ vineyard (one of the oldest vineyards in Springton let alone greater Barossa) forms the backbone of the wine. Pendee Farm gives the tropical fruit and Kroehn brings all the lime/citrus.
There are typical southern Eden Valley citrus characters of lemon, lime and grapefruit together with a long, chalky and mineral finish. Drink with oysters or as simply by its self.
