2020 Richard Hamilton Colton’s GSM McLaren Vale – Richard Hamilton Wines are reflective of the distinctive McLaren Vale region with its Mediterranean climate producing great value, fruit driven wines. The Hamilton family has been involved in winemaking and grape growing for five generations. Dr Richard Hamilton now continues his family’s long tradition of involvement in the wine industry.
The Colton homestead overlooks the gently sloping ‘Farm Block’ on which the varieties sourced for this wine are grown. The individual varieties were fermented separately and matured in seasoned oak to retain fruit dominance. The style of the wine is based on the mouth filling texture provided by Grenache and structure and density characteristic of Shiraz and Mourvèdre.
Mouth filling texture provided by Grenache which is rounded out by the structure and density characteristic of Shiraz and Mourvèdre. Subtle use of oak allows the fruit to shine through to reveal attractive hints of boiled fruit cake with cinnamon and cloves. A beautifully round palate with silky tannins, this wine has lovely persistence and length.
This wine will accompany the best pasta, paella, or rich gamey meals – or just enjoy it on its own.
