2022 Juniper Crossing Original White Margaret River – The Semillon (52%) comes from their Wilyabrup vineyard whilst the Sauvignon Blanc (48%) is grown on their Karridale vineyard. 80% was fermented in stainless steel tanks and 20% fermented in barrel. The barrel batches were whole bunch pressed and wild fermented, whilst the tank portion was cold fermented to aid with both flavour and freshness. Both components were stirred on lees to help build texture.
Pale green in colour with a hint of straw. The nose is reminiscent of gooseberry, spiced citrus, green apple and passionfruit with background notes of smoked cashews and fresh herbs. The palate is well-weighted, smooth and textural. Fruit salad flavours are complemented by subtle hints of herbs and spices. Refreshing, long, citrus acid finish.
Best enjoyed over the next two years. Match with grilled seafood or a spring vegetable linguine.
