2020 Dodgy Bros Juxtaposed Old Vine Grenache McLaren Vale – From the Wait Vineyard in Blewitt Springs and the Smart Vineyard in Clarendon. 2020 gave them minuscule yields, due to a third consecutive drought winter, and multiple weather events during flowering and fruit set. The result was a mere 0.45t harvest from the Wait vineyard and 1.2t from the Smart vineyard, harvested on the 11th and 23rd of March respectively. Although the crops were tiny, the quality was very high and the results can be seen in the wine. Typical fruit concentration, balance and length associated with these vineyards and the subsequent wine. As always Dodgy Bros just stay out of the way, and let these vineyards express themselves through the wine. Artwork by Adam Harriden – ‘Point Slider’.
A lighter, prettier style but just as impressive. Think red berry fruits with a good mix of blackberry and cherry. A nice dusting of spice, dried herbs and a touch of earthiness. Medium bodied with a brilliant web of tannin that really pulls you into the glass. Crisp acidity and great length of flavour round of another excellent release of this magnificent Grenache.
