2022 Te Mata Estate Coleraine Hawke’s Bay

From: $155.00

2022 Te Mata Estate Coleraine Hawke’s Bay – Coleraine derives its name from the Coleraine vineyard, home of John and Wendy Buck of Te Mata Estate. John’s late grandfather was born in Coleraine in Northern Ireland and the name has been maintained through the family home to the wine. Originally a single vineyard wine, from 1989 Coleraine has been an assemblage of the finest wines produced from distinct plots within Te Mata Estate’s oldest vineyards on the Havelock Hills.

The year 2024 is a golden celebration at New Zealand’s oldest winery, Te Mata Estate, a sparkling half-century anniversary of continuous ownership. The highlight of this celebratory year is the release of Coleraine ’22, showcasing the greatness of Te Mata Cabernet Sauvignon – on display at the highest level since the legendary ’82, the inaugural Coleraine.

When picked in beautiful condition, Cabernet Sauvignon from Hawke’s Bay is capable of incredible varietal complexity, and even more so when from different rootstocks, clones, site aspects, soils, and mesoclimates. Always a jewel in the crown of Te Mata, these cabernet vineyards are the strength and hallmark of Coleraine ’22. The blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc reflects this.

The succession of vintage variation is what makes Coleraine so collectable. Thought-provoking and captivating, with layers of varietal expression made precise by years of collective experience, Coleraine ’22 offers power and weight alongside signature restraint and finesse.
