2019 Craiglee Eadie Shiraz Sunbury Victoria

From: $42.00

2019 Craiglee Eadie Shiraz Sunbury Victoria – In 1976, as a newly graduated Agricultural student, Pat Carmody was faced with the challenge of reinvigorating the Carmody family farm on the outskirts of Sunbury – a small town 40 minutes from Melbourne and just up the road from Tullamarine Airport.

Pat decided to plant vines on part of the site. It wasn’t an altogether blind move – Craiglee had originally been a winery in the 1860s, however it was nevertheless a bold and pioneering decision for the time.

Flash forward forty years from the first vintage in 1978 and Craiglee has firmly cemented itself as one of the finest producers of Shiraz and Chardonnay in Australia. And it’s still completely owned and run by Pat and his wife Dianne.

The “Eadie” is made from fruit grown in their paddock on the southern side of Jacksons Creek, named for the family who first planted vines on the spot in 1863.

It is bright crimson in colour with aromas of blueberry and plum, and fine tannins to support the spicy flavours combining to make an elegant savoury wine.
