2021 Kurtz Family Vineyards Seven Sleepers Shiraz Barossa Valley

From: $15.99

2021 Kurtz Family Vineyards Seven Sleepers Shiraz Barossa Valley – The idea for the formation of Kurtz Family Vineyards is by no means unique – it commenced from a long family history of growing grapes, drinking the end product and a desire to see wine made exclusively from their own grapes.

Seven Sleepers, or Siebenschlaffer, is named after an old Barossa German farmers’ lore, being that the weather that occurs on 27 June is likely to be prevalent for the next 7 weeks.

All fruit for Seven Sleepers Shiraz was grown on the Kurtz Family vineyard at Light Pass in the Barossa Valley. The vines receive minimal irrigation and are pruned for vine balance, resulting in maximum fruit quality and varietal expression.

A lively, fruit-driven wine with pure Barossa aromas of blueberry, bloodplum, and red liquorice. Juicy berry and plum flavours fill the palate, with a touch of oak that supports but doesn’t dominate, allowing the sweet, mouthwatering fruit to show its full potential. Fine, ripe tannins give length to the palate, which finishes soft, yet gently structured, with delicious, lingering flavour.

The rich combination of sweet, mouthfilling flavours is ideally suited to current consumption, however the wine will also reward careful short-term cellaring.

Seven Sleepers Shiraz is a great match with grilled, pan-fried, barbecued or roasted meats, pasta, pizza and other full-flavoured dishes.
