2018 d’Arenberg The Stump Jump Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre McLaren Vale

From: $12.99

2018 d’Arenberg The Stump Jump Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre McLaren Vale – It is rumoured that the inventor of the Stump Jump plough, which enabled a ploughshare to jump over tree roots, had poor eyesight and required regular tests to ensure he could still operate machinery. The design of this label is inspired by an optometrist’s eyechart and serves as a makeshift sobriety test. If you can hold the bottle at arm’s length and still read the front label, you can enjoy another glass.

This is a value packed wine that punches well above its weight. The bouquet is open and fruit driven displaying an abundance of red and black fruits, mixed with deft touches of spice and earthiness. You’ll find generous proportions on the palate, with lots of sweet juicy fruits, ripe for tasting. The roundness of Grenache, sits on top of the solid structural foundation of Shiraz and is punctuated by the tight, punchy line of Mourvedre. The three varieties coexisting in perfect harmony resulting in a balanced wine of great length and depth.

At a touch over two years old this wine is just starting to come into its own and promises to drink well over the next three to five years.
