2017 Michael Hall Sang de Pigeon Shiraz Barossa Valley – Sang de Pigeon is a nod to Michael Hall’s former life as a jewellery valuer. It’s the trade term for the colour of the finest Rubies, invariably from the Mogok Stone Tract in Myanmar.
Abundant winter rain followed by a cool Spring and Summer heralded a late vintage. Hand-picked in Greenock and Stone Well, wild fermented in open fermenter and closed puncheons, 5% whole bunch, matured in French oak barrels for 21 months (10% new), blended with 15% Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills Shiraz.
Medium to full bodied, juicy dense dark fruits, fine spread of tannins, superb length and finish.
