2021 Michael Hall Sang de Pigeon Shiraz Barossa Valley

From: $28.00

2021 Michael Hall Sang de Pigeon Shiraz Barossa Valley – Sang de Pigeon is a nod to Michael Hall’s former life as a jewellery valuer. It’s the trade term for the colour of the finest Rubies, invariably from the Mogok Stone Tract in Myanmar.

In 2021 low rainfall was compounded by poor weather during flowering. The result was our lowest yields this century! Sparse bunches with small berries gave us powerful, intense fruit demanding longer maturation and a higher proportion of new oak. We blended the opulent Barossa Valley fruit with the high-toned fruit of Naimanya in Eden Valley. All destemmed, wild fermented in open fermenters, matured for 32 months in French oak, 42% new. Unfined and unfiltered.

Medium to full bodied, juicy dense dark fruits, redcurrant and blueberry, dried floral and citrus notes, fine spread of tannins, superb length and finish.
