2019 Yarra Yering Carrodus Shiraz Yarra Valley – Planted in 1969, the unirrigated vines at their Yarra Valley vineyard produce elegant, complex and powerful wines. Approachable as young wines, they have the ability to develop in the bottle for many years. Yarra Yering is one of Australia’s most iconic wineries with an outstanding international reputation.
Fruit sourced exclusively from a small block of 1969 planted Shiraz. Only enough fruit is grown here to produce 1200 bottles.
A lifted violet perfume, fragrant blueberries and black plums with a side of cured meats. The palate has beautiful density of fruit, liquorice spices and a slate-graphite minerality. The cool climate acidity bringing an energy and brightness to the palate which will carry it through many years of cellaring. A solid framework of chary oak tannins perfectly balanced with the intense fruit flavour and a layered texture. The persistence of the elegant flavour profile lingers for an age.
Drinking beautifully at present and will evolve for a further 20 years under suitable cellaring conditions.
