2021 Schild Estate Moorooroo Shiraz Barossa Valley

From: $199.00

2021 Schild Estate Moorooroo Shiraz Barossa Valley – Schild Estate Wines are created with an authenticity and passion that comes from generations of a family who have made their home in the Southern Barossa.

This irreplaceable vineyard was planted in 1847 by Willam and John Jacob, just eleven years after the foundation of South Australia putting them amongst the oldest in the world. Situated between Jacob’s Creek and the North Para River the vineyard gets it’s name from the Indigenous word ‘Moorooroo’ meaning ‘meeting of two waters’.

A mild, December and January with cool nights saw ideal conditions prevail towards the end of the 2016 growing season. The result was a measured pace of ripening which ensured the balanced development of sugar and flavours in the fruit along with the retention of natural grape acid before some later season warmth allowed some real fruit presence to develop. A particularly strong year for red wines in the region.

Deep ruby, purple in colour showing intense and creamy aromas of dark compote berry fruit with hints of blackberry, plums and mulberries peeking through. On the palate waves of the same dark berry fruit show early providing a density and voluptuousness to the mouth-feel that remains deep into the mouth and rolls out through the back. It is joined by just a hint of spice and some subtle glimpses of faint leather and sandalwood.
