2013 Glaetzer-Dixon La Judith Shiraz Tasmania

From: $220.00

2013 Glaetzer-Dixon La Judith Shiraz Tasmania – Winemaker Nick Glaetzer has transformed an old ice factory on the edge of Hobart’s CBD into Tasmania’s first urban winery and tasting room. A fifth generation vigneron hailing from the Barossa Valley, Nick moved to Tasmania in 2005. With Glaetzer-Dixon he has won the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy and Gourmet Traveller’s Young Winemaker of the Year award.

Named after Nick Glaetzer’s mother Judith. Single vineyard shiraz from Coal Valley in Tasmania. Aged in 100% new French oak. It’s elegant, soft, delicious and wonderfully balanced. But then it’s also powerful and well weighted with superb opulence. Only 574 bottles made, extremely limited!

A cool climate Shiraz, not your usual run of the mill cool climate Shiraz, but definitely made for the cool climate lovers. Fuller then you would expect, handfuls of red and black berries, a touch of jaminess, tomato leaf, some deli meats in the mix and a good dusting of spices and black pepper. Interesting, different, dangerously delicious!
