A Quick Note on Fruit Harvesting Methods

Harvesting wine grapes is both an art form and a science. Choosing the precise day and time, harvesting method (and more) all affect the quality, juiciness, sweetness/tartness, and flavour of the bottled wine.

Vineyards either hand pick or machine harvest. There are pros and cons for each method. For example, hand-picking reduces the risk of the fruit skins being damaged while machine harvesting is far more efficient(*4).
